I know I’m not the only one who feels like January flew by! So I don’t doubt that Valentine’s Day will be here in no time. Let’s get ready for it now!
While my husband and I are not huge Valentine’s Day celebrators, I am really excited to do some Valentine’s day crafts with our son for school. The first craft we’re doing is something for his awesome teachers. One of my favorite things about owning a home is making changes without worrying about whether this will be acceptable to a landlord. For example, we added shelving in our basement for storage. We use this for many random items for our home, including jars! If you have space for it, get yourself a few packages of jars. Trust me! They are so handy! We use them to freeze soups, pickle veggies from the garden, and now I’m going to use them to make some cookie jars.
I found an M&M Cookie Mix on Miss Wish’s website that I used to make these cute Valentine’s Day Cookie Jars. We used red and pink smarties to make it look extra festive! You’ll assemble your jars in the order the recipe shows to get those pretty layers. If you like the gift tag I used, you can also download your own printable version below. Once you print it, use the crop marks to cut it out and then fold it in half to create the gift tag. Or if you want, you can put it on some construction paper like I did below.

Cullen’s favourite thing to do at home is play games of all sorts! So we’re making Tic Tac Toe sets for him to give to his classmates. Parents are going to love that we’re going to encourage kids to play with their food before they eat it… building immunity one dirty smartie at a time! You can get your own printable game board in the download below. Then all you need is these boxes of Smarties to be used as playing pieces.

The last thing we’ll be making is our own version of this Valentine’s Day Popcorn I found from Two Sisters Crafting. Again, we’re going to add some of the smarties, plus some marshmallows and gummy candies (because I love them and will be picking them out of the popcorn!)
The best part of owning a home for me is all the little memories that have made our house our home. Growing up, I spent a ton of time with my Nan in the kitchen, so I’m hopeful that Cullen will have his own kitchen memories in our home.
Give me a shout if you need some help planning to own your own home and start your kitchen-making memories.
